From humble beginnings to industry leaders
2021
Our story begins with a passion for creating durable, attractive outdoor furniture.
LeisureBench Limited was founded in a modest 2,000-square-foot unit in Melton Mowbray, England. Initially, we focused on selling and distributing A-frame picnic tables to local pubs, but LeisureBench had its sights set on something bigger.
2004
Building the first transport fleet and getting our products on the road
With growth underway, LeisureBench added its first transport vehicles in 2004, consisting of a single pickup truck and trailer. This early investment marked the beginning of our commitment to efficient delivery across a growing customer base, supplying outdoor furniture to customers across the UK.
2010
Moving into our new headquarters and launching expanded offerings
By 2010, LeisureBench had outgrown its original space and we soon moved into a larger headquarters in Stathern. This expansion meant we had the capacity to offer bespoke products, including custom spray-painted options, while retaining the original Melton Mowbray site as a public showroom.
2020–2021
We experienced significant growth and began expanding into diverse markets
LeisureBench saw remarkable growth in 2020 and 2021, widening our customer demographic and importing market-leading products to meet the needs of a growing customer base. The launch of a revamped website also expanded our reach to both domestic and commercial customers, positioning our company as a major industry player.
2022
Establishing LeisureBench as a sustainable manufacturer of recycled plastic furniture
In 2022, LeisureBench demonstrated its commitment to environmental sustainability with the launch of SGM Recycled Plastics Ltd., a sister company focused on manufacturing eco-friendly outdoor furniture and accessories made from recycled plastics, all developed in our UK-based facility.
2023
Acquiring a new site in Grantham and setting the scene for future growth
LeisureBench opened a new site in Grantham in 2023, bringing its business operations for both LeisureBench and SGM Recycled Plastics under one roof. This site enables streamlined operations and provides the space necessary for continued growth.
Today
We continue to lead (and disrupt!) the outdoor furniture industry in the UK
